The Rat Pack - Speakeasy

Attention, big format, big screen!

The gangsters that brought them together had a passion for the cinematographic process. They used this passion to reinvent their own circus.
A circus show at the tip of your chair or tucked in deep in the couch. Both options are available with this ‘who dunnit’.
The mobster boss, his wife, his right hand man, a pin up, a barman and a crooked bandit come to life and the change the circus setting into a film set.

As a screenplay for the big screen, the composition of this show is supported by the collectivity and the interaction between the artists. This serious and traditional drawing of acts and circus disciplines is being wiped out carefully, to make room for a fun and dynamic cast, caught in a ‘non stop motion’.

A circus show completely inspired by the cinematic universe.
Structured as a movie screenplay where time and space can be bent at free will. Performed in a setting, which gave it’s name to the show. ‘Speakeasy’ was a clandestine bar at the time of Al Capone and the Prohibition law in the United States of America. This name finds it origin in the fact that in this clandestine bar it was asked to order prohibited alcohol with a muffled voice.

Inspired by the Silent movies and the hip hop culture, these artists went to limits of their talents in physical expression. The music was composed by the dj’s and the sound designer of the band ‘Chinese man’.

Ell Circo D'ell Fuego - HARDT

Through the eyes of the youth the world that surrounds them is bi-coloured black & white. That’s the main reason they have the craziest ideas popping up in their brain at very unforeseen timings.. They could see the impossibilities about their ideas coming from far away, if they weren’t so busy with themselves.
We’ve asked our students to reflect and create around the theme war that rages everywhere on this planet. But seen from the perspective of their inner, adolescent war. The difference between youth and adults expressing themselves about more heavy themes is in the detail of the drawing. The younger the more towards charcoal, the older the more architectural detail you’ll find. Their emotions, if and when they’re expressed, aren’t measured and under control. They’re expressed raw and unexpected, like ‘Raw Art’.
We wanted to show this inner battle and honest brutality of the creation.
Strong and vulnerable.

Animal Religion

Indomador is a contemporary and experimental circus performance.

This performance sheds a weird light on everyday routines ... or does it shed an everyday light on weird routines..? What is certain is that this show lurs out our inner animalistic instincts.

The surreal atmosphere and the comical strength of the artist to reach out to the fundamental emotions of the audience, anger, fear, tenderness ,… This performance follows therefor the dramaturgy of life. The life of a man, alone, trying to understand his animalistic instincts. He let’s us discover these personal instincts and changes the stage in an ‘animalarium’. He poses man against animal, woman against man. He tells us stories of his life by means of animals and sexes.

An intelligent, male rooster amidst a bunch of hens;

An innocent pig, searching for abundance;

A seductive cow, on the hunt for a male;

A stud … untameable;

In short, a grotesque parody of the modern human.
